Bengwenyama's Second Product, and the Discount Nobody Has Explained
Part 1 measured the rock at Bengwenyama and found it good. Part 2 looks at the company that owns it, and at three things the market has not put a number on. A second product the published economics do not contain. A discount two research houses apply and neither of them explains. And a commodity whose best deposits are so concentrated in one country that investors outside it have almost nothing to compare this with.

WHAT THIS PIECE COVERS The three tests Part 1 ran, the five this piece runs, and why there is so little to compare this with, on ground, grade and power. 2.00 WHO ACTUALLY OWNS BENGWENYAMA The corporate chain, the community's 30 per cent, the loan behind it and the decade of litigation that kept this ground free. 3.00 TEST FOUR, A CONVENTIONAL FLOWSHEET What the July 2026 metallurgical work changed, and the second product that is in none of the published numbers. 4.00 TEST FIVE, A CONCENTRATE SOMEONE WILL BUY Chrome as a penalty and as a product, and why an unsigned offtake is a step not yet reached. 5.00 TEST SIX, A RESERVE RATHER THAN A RESOURCE A declared reserve of 6.29 million ounces, the three qualifications on it, and why it is more likely a floor. A mining right granted after nearly three years, and the licences and steps still outstanding. 7.00 TEST EIGHT, BEING ABLE TO RAISE THE MONEY About 1.7 times the market capitalisation, measured against a mine the company no longer intends to build. 8.00 WHAT THE RESEARCH SAYS, AND WHO PAID FOR IT Who covers this company, who pays them, and the discount neither of them itemises. Six tests answered, two open, and the three things that have no line on the scorecard at all. Noel's own commentary. |
A note on the vocabulary and the sources. Technical and mining terms are explained in plain English where they first appear, and all of them are collected in one box at the back. Every source carries an identifier, [R1] to [R40], and that identifier appears in the body text at the point the source is used, so any figure can be traced to where it came from. Where this article builds a model from released data rather than repeating a company statement, it says so at that point and labels it as Samso’s own reasoning. A model is not a prediction.
1.00 — WHERE PART 1 LEFT OFF
The eight tests, and how far Part 1 got
Part 1 set out eight tests a platinum group element project has to pass before it becomes a mine. It ran the first three, which are grade, the orebody, and what the plant costs to build.
PLATE 01 is what the ground looks like now. A camp, a core yard, a road and a fence. Everything in this piece that has not happened yet would be built on that flat ground in the middle of the picture.
