Kaiser Reef (ASX: KAU) to Sharpen Maldon Gold Targets with Airborne Survey

High-resolution magnetic and radiometric data will be integrated with soil geochemistry and mapping to define the next series of surface drill targets across the historic Victorian goldfield.

Kaiser Reef Limited (ASX: KAU) has completed a close-spaced helicopter magnetic and radiometric survey over its Maldon Gold Project in Victoria, adding a new layer of high-resolution geophysical data to the company's district-scale exploration program.
The low-altitude survey covered 59 square kilometres using 35-metre line spacing (Figure 1).Kaiser expects the resulting dataset to improve its understanding of Maldon's structural architecture and lithology, particularly where cross-cutting structures may intersect the field's better-known north-south reef systems.

The survey follows recent soil sampling that identified multiple gold and arsenic pathfinder anomalies. Once processed and interpreted, the airborne data will be considered alongside those soil results and ongoing geological mapping to rank the next series of targets for surface drilling.
For investors, the key distinction is that Kaiser has completed the data-acquisition phase; it has not yet reported geophysical interpretations, new drill targets or drilling results from this work.
The next test will be whether the survey can reveal coherent structural relationships that help the company concentrate drilling on the most prospective parts of the Maldon field.

From Broad Prospectivity to Defined Drill Targets
Maldon's long production history establishes the goldfield's credentials, but historical production alone does not identify where the next economically meaningful body of mineralisation may sit.
That is the practical purpose of the current work program. Soil geochemistry can indicate where gold and associated pathfinder elements are anomalous near surface. Geological mapping places those anomalies in their local rock and structural setting. The airborne magnetic and radiometric survey is intended to provide a more continuous district-scale view of the geological framework beneath and between those surface observations.
Kaiser said its existing soil results show some gold trends departing from the dominant north-south alignment. The company is now looking to the helicopter survey to confirm and better define structures cutting across the established reef orientation.
These intersections matter because structural complexity can influence the movement and concentration of mineralising fluids. In exploration terms, the survey is therefore not searching for gold directly; it is helping Kaiser build a better geological model from which more focused drilling decisions can be made.
Managing Director Brad Valiukas said the higher-resolution dataset was expected to become an important targeting tool.
"In the soils, we see some gold trends heading off the north-south alignment, and we are looking for the helicopter-based geophysics survey to confirm, and better define, the cross-cutting structures intersecting the multiple north-south reefs. This will be key to locking in the next series of surface targets for drill testing."
Why the 35-Metre Spacing Matters
The close flight-line spacing is designed to give Kaiser substantially greater detail than the regional-scale information previously available to the company.
At 35-metre spacing, the survey should provide a more tightly resolved picture of changes across the project area. Kaiser expects this to help distinguish structural trends and lithological boundaries that may be difficult to recognise from surface work alone.
The value of that resolution, however, will depend on interpretation. Geophysical patterns must still be reconciled with known geology, historic workings, soil anomalies and field mapping before they can be converted into credible drill targets. ement marks the completion of an enabling exploration program rather than a mineral discovery.

Reopening a Historically Rich Gold District
Maldon sits within Victoria's historic Golden Triangle and has produced 1.75 million ounces at 28g/t, according to Kaiser. The company describes the area as a district-scale opportunity containing numerous historical mines and lines of workings that remain substantially underexplored after decades of limited modern exploration.
Kaiser's position at Maldon includes existing underground access and the permitted, operating 200,000-tonne-per-annum Porcupine Flat carbon-in-leach processing facility. This infrastructure gives the project a different strategic character from an early-stage exploration property that would require an entirely new development footprint.
Last week, the company kicked off new underground development at the Union Hill Gold Mine within its Maldon Gold Project in Victoria, taking the first cut of the Northern Drill Drive and marking the first new development at the site in almost eight years (Figure 3).
The current survey is part of a broader program intended both to expand the project and support Kaiser's longer-term objective of increasing production. The immediate exploration task is to move from a large historical field with many prospective indications to a smaller, ranked set of modern drill targets.
Valiukas said the program was designed to help unlock a district that had experienced "decades of exploration neglect", while advancing work that could grow Maldon as a whole and support expanded production.

Maldon Within the Wider Kaiser Portfolio
Kaiser is already an Australian gold producer through the Henty Gold Mine in Tasmania. Henty is supported by a 199,000-ounce Ore Reserve, a conventional processing plant with capacity above 300,000 tonnes per annum and a targeted production profile of approximately 30,000 ounces annually.

The combination of Henty and Maldon gives Kaiser two distinct value drivers (Figure 4) Henty provides current production, processing capacity and near-mine reserve growth opportunities, while Maldon offers historical scale, existing infrastructure and exploration-led growth potential.
This context is relevant because the Maldon survey is not an isolated greenfields exercise. It forms part of Kaiser's stated strategy of using targeted investment across operating and development assets to grow reserves, production and long-term cash flow.
What Investors Should Watch Next
The completion of the helicopter survey answers the first operational question: the planned data collection has been carried out across the nominated area.
The more consequential questions remain ahead:
What structural and lithological features emerge from processing and interpretation?
Do the airborne patterns support the off-axis gold and arsenic trends identified in the soil program?
Can Kaiser define a manageable set of high-priority targets where multiple datasets overlap?
How quickly can those targets move into surface drilling?
Most importantly, does drilling confirm mineralisation of sufficient width, grade and continuity to add meaningful scale to Maldon?
The strongest targets should be those supported by several independent lines of evidence rather than a geophysical response in isolation. The upcoming interpretation will therefore be most useful when Kaiser shows how the new airborne data relate to soil anomalies, mapped geology, historic workings and known reef systems.
Samso Concluding Comments
The completion of the Maldon airborne survey is a sensible and necessary piece of groundwork. It gives Kaiser a higher-resolution dataset across a goldfield with exceptional historical production, extensive workings and established processing infrastructure.
Its real importance is not the helicopter survey by itself. The value lies in whether Kaiser can integrate geophysics, geochemistry and mapping into a more predictive geological model-and then use that model to improve the efficiency of drilling.
That is the progression investors should focus on: data acquisition, interpretation, target definition, drilling and geological validation.
Kaiser has now completed the first of those steps and already has encouraging soil anomalies to work with. The next meaningful milestone will be the quality and coherence of the targets generated from the combined datasets. Until those interpretations and drill results are reported, the survey should be viewed as an important targeting tool rather than evidence of a discovery.
Maldon's history tells investors that the system was capable of producing high-grade gold. Kaiser's challenge is to show that modern exploration can identify the parts of that system that earlier generations left behind.
