Austral Resources (ASX: AR1), what it actually owns now

Austral Resources Australia (ASX: AR1) spent more than two years suspended from trading before a recapitalisation, a $40 million placement and a $65 million follow-on raise put it back in business. It now controls two processing plants, has agreed to buy a former Glencore zinc mine for the copper ground underneath it, and has just reported a maiden drill result its chairman calls uncommon. None of that yet carries a JORC resource number, and the company is still recruiting for a permanent chief executive. This piece sets out what Austral has actually bought, what still needs to be proven, and what would have to go right for the number a broker has already put on the stock to hold up.

A note on the vocabulary and the sources. Technical and mining terms are explained in plain English where they first appear, and all of them are collected in one box at the back. Every source carries an identifier, [R1] to [R31], and that identifier appears in the body text at the point the source is used, so any figure can be traced to where it came from.
