Actinogen Medical (ASX ACW), Research and Coverage

actinogen-medical-ltd

Actinogen Medical Ltd (ASX: ACW), formerly Actinogen Limited. This is not a mining company. It is a clinical-stage biotech with one drug candidate, classified by the ASX under Health Care. Actinogen is developing Xanamem. It has no product on the market and earns nothing from selling anything, so the money it spends comes from shareholders, from the Australian Government's research and development tax incentive, and from a loan written against that expected rebate. Xanamem is being tested as a treatment for Alzheimer's disease, and has also been tested in depression. The idea behind it is that the stress hormone cortisol, at high levels over long periods, harms the parts of the brain involved in memory. Xanamem is designed to block an enzyme called 11 beta-HSD1 that generates cortisol inside brain cells. That is the hypothesis the trials are testing. It is not an established fact. Xanamem is an investigational product and is not approved for use outside of a clinical trial by the FDA or by any global regulatory authority.
